Mr. Goodwin represents clients in state and federal appeals, in various commercial transactions including oil and gas matters, in the purchase and sale of stock and/or business assets, and in varied civil litigation throughout West Virginia’s state and federal courts. He is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, he is a West Virginia State Bar Foundation Fellow (2003), and he is a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (2010). Mr. Goodwin’s experience includes serving as West Virginia State Tax Commissioner (1977), and as Executive Assistant to Governor John D. Rockefeller, IV (1977-1981). He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, and the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and all lower West Virginia state courts. Mr. Goodwin holds degrees from West Virginia University (A.B. 1966; J.D. 1969; Order of the Coif; West Virginia Law Review Editor-in-Chief) and Harvard University (LLM, 1970).
